Composites Testing- Mechanical Methods
Mechanical testing of polymers is used to determine the mechanical properties of a polymeric material. It can be used to evaluate a material independent of its geometry and also at defined geometrical conditions. There are a wide variety of mechanical testing methods that can be performed when evaluating a material, but the goals for testing are common:
- Obtain material properties and characterizations for Finite Element Analysis
- Check the quality of your cure cycle with simple tests such as tensile testing and short beam shear
- Test different material lots or batches for comparison
